My brain hurts. I wish I could write. I have 3000 words of pointless smut sitting on my hard drive but I can't turn it into Severus/any-canon-character so there it sits.

There's been a good deal of nice, short stuff posted in snarry_games lately (well less than 10,000), which is good because I only have LIKE 617,000 WORDS LEFT TO READ IN hd_worldcup aksjdfhjasdfhlalsdfj!! before polls close on Saturday night.

I'm not going to make it. I can't possibly. Even at a skimming speed, that's still almost 5 solid hours a day (counting today).

I'm getting a little burnt out on hd_worldcup. It's not just that many of the fics are long, because there have been a good number of more manageable ones (<10k), too. I think it's just that I don't care enough. I developed a little taste for Harry/Draco a couple of months ago, but I think the "problem" is that it's just that: a little taste, something I can't really feed on a steady diet of. I'm not yet having the same problem with snarry_games, even though Severus/Harry isn't really one of my top pairings and I am not as filled with squee as some other people are.

Blah. And here I thought I was joking when I said "my little neurons don't want none unless it's got Snape, hon".

O hai, IJ! Many props to squeaky, who is made entirely from crystallized awesome. *\o/*

Last night I had a Harry/Draco slash dream. The unusual bit was that I was Harry. Literally, with no separate consciousness of being my regular self. We were decorating a Christmas tree with green and gold baubles, and he was being a little bitch and disparaging each one individually as I tried to hang them, and then there was non-sequitur kissing. (Bog-standard fic then, eh?) I called him "Malfoy" a few times, not "Draco". He never addressed me by name, but if Harry was still calling him "Malfoy", then I doubt he'd be calling me anything but "Potter". (Or "Scarhead".)

So that makes the count Sirius (once up on top of a building in the middle of some Order operation, once at a barbecue), Neville (tangled up together in a blanket on the floor in front of a big-screen TV), Lucius (I don't remember exactly), Draco (as described here), Harry with me separate (riding in the back seat of a car with some crazy lady driving in some dirt arena?), and me as Harry (as here).

Still oddly AWOL, especially considering how often they turn up in waking life: James, Regulus, and Severus goddamn Snape.

!(*&#(!*&!! Why are all the fics on hd_worldcup so long? How is anyone supposed to keep up and vote on things? I can't even read one 14-16k fic per day (maybe I could, if I read no others). There's no way I can get through four, especially on top of everything else.

Thirty years after the Second War, Draco Malfoy witnessed the downfall of Harry Potter.

I'm not sure where I ran across this fic, but I'm glad I did. This is really not your standard Harry/Draco (compared to my experience, anyway). It's rated NC-17 but it's not smut by any means; sex is just one of Harry's addictions as he struggles with a kind of "fading into darkness".

There is hauntingly dark imagery and the pacing is wonderfully languid, as though I were leaning shoulder to shoulder with Draco up against a stone wall on a dark hill, listening to him quietly tell me this story while we smoked cigarettes and looked out from our vantage point but never at each other.

It's 4700 words done as 47 drabbles. I've generally been unsure about "drabble series" as a format for fic; haven't you really written a 4700-word story at that point? But I suppose if the drabbles can also individually stand, self-contained, then it works, and I think this one achieves that.

Beautiful, beautiful Harry/Draco piece in hpvalensmut today: Survival of the Species. They're adults in this (Harry even has a beard! and it looks all right! omg!). The artist rated it "soft R" but I think it might even be PG-13. (I'd say it's WS but that depends where you work.) Lovely soft colours, nice lines of the bodies, Draco has awesome long hair, and wowsers their mutually locked gaze is just transfixing.
